You CAN Fly…

Keep It Simple

Reflecting on times past…

This morning I woke up hearing these words in my mind. I reached for the computer and with my eyes closed, just started typing. I’m not sure where it came from or what I must have been dreaming, but I wrote it just as I heard it. When I read it later today I thought it wasn’t half bad, so I decided to share it with you. Comments are so welcome on this one! Here it is…….

You can do it! Don’t listen to the naysayers, those that haven’t done what you’re trying to accomplish, or those who never will. You are the only one who knows the dream in your heart. Don’t listen to the voice in your head that doubts the passion of your heart. The heart is always right, even though the head can sometimes appear quite convincing.  That passion was put there for a reason. Honor it. Treasure it. Listen to it! Follow where it leads you without question.

The road may be a new trail and the path may appear bumpy. You might be scared and even feel afraid, but you know deep in your heart that the fear isn’t real. It’s just your body experiencing something new and the mind starting to play survival tricks with you all over again. That voice of fear may come in handy if a tiger is chasing you, but not today. Today is the day for the dreamer in you to surface. So wake up your inner dreamer. Give your inner dreamer permission to shout its message to you and shine!  Listen to what you hear if you’re scared. For when the passion is louder than the fear, you’ll succeed. You can do this. I believe in you! You’ve done things scarier than this before and you’ve lived through those experiences too. So go for it!

Keep It Simple

You Can Fly!

Walk right on up to that ledge, stand on the edge and look down at your knees knocking, your whole body trembling, and don’t mistake the excitement and anticipation of your experience for fear of the unknown. Feel the adrenaline coursing through your body, and then, when your rational mind least expects it, jump! Leap into the unknown knowing that it’s the only way for you to achieve your dream. Jump into your future. The ledge is no place for dreamers. You were born to fly. Jump and let those shiny wings of yours do what they were made to do. Embrace the adventure called LIFE and soar. I know you can do it, for I’ve seen your wings. I know that they’re there waiting to unfold into the glory of who you really are.

Sometimes when you’re not looking I see them try to poke out of the confines your mind has placed around them. Trust me when I tell you that you can fly. If you don’t believe in yourself yet, trust what I tell you and allow me to believe in you until you see it for yourself. And when you believe it, you’ll see it. And if you’re not ready to believe it quite yet, just pretend with me for just a bit, until your own belief grows so strong that no ledge can ever hold you back.

You were born to soar with the eagles. So come with me. Bring your dream into your mind. Feel the excitement. Taste the fear- and jump anyway! I’ll be there to fly with you, wingtip-to-wingtip, soaring over the mundane and the mediocre, the boring and the predictable. Woohoo! Doesn’t that feel good to stretch your wings, your limits and the boundaries of your mind and allow what’s in your heart to just burst forth with enthusiasm and say “YES!” to the dream? Go for it! Dip a little to the left, bank through that turn and whoa, watch out for that thermal. This breeze up here is strong and sometimes unpredictable, but we can handle it. You can do this. After all, it’s your dream and you were born to fly!

Feel Like A Stranger in My Own Home…

Keep It Simple

Has anyone else ever felt this way?

When I get home, it feels like I am a stranger in my own home. It is a weird emotion and sensation. Through a series of unfortunate events, this has occurred. It is a sad emotion, and really trying to trust to hope. And even that is difficult, because of the immediate feeling of loss is always right there, gnawing at the back of my mind.

All I can do is pray, and hope. Maybe one day this will pass, and maybe it won’t. It is all going to depend on the new choices on the horizon.

A weird feeling for sure. One that I hope goes away soon.

The Many Benefits of Chartering a Private Jet…

Keep It Simple

Why Charter A Private Jet?

Charter Flight Meal

Convenience is probably the most important factor when you charter a private jet. Choosing to rent a private jet over commercial airline gives you supreme convenience over extreme inconvenience.

When you utilize our jet charter service, you are the one choosing your personalized flight details, not someone else’s. You get to choose the airport location, the time frame, the charter jet plane, and people you fly with. You are able to fly closer to your final destination, which cuts down on car rentals or taxi fare.

Keep It Simple

The convenience of not having to go through the traditional airport procedures is of great value to all travelers. Consider the time you will save by not having to arrive two hours early to check in for your flight and not having to go through security.

On a private jet you will not have to check certain bags and stow others. You can bring that bottle of juice, bagel and any other catering item you crave with you. You can keep your shoes on and use your cell phone/electronic equipment freely as long as you have a signal.

You can carry on those items that a commercial flight would not allow. When you charter a jet with Club Jet there are no size limits to liquids or weight limits on your luggage. The added convenience of being able to pack and carry anything you want on your jet will make preparing for your trip easier and less stressful, whether you are traveling for business or pleasure.

Keep It Simple

Being able to walk a short distance to your charter jet rather than miles through the large airports is extremely satisfying. The charter flight itself is shorter due to more efficient procedures, getting you to your final destination sooner.

Growing a Window Garden…

Are you looking to join the locavore movement? Well, it doesn’t get much more local than growing your own…unless you grow your own right there in the kitchen next to the stove!

growing sprouts
Keep It Simple

Sprouts are the easiest thing to grow in a small space such as a kitchen counter. This is simple stuff. Seeds will sprout with nothing more than water and air. Sure, you can buy a kit, but really all that you need is a paper towel, a hemp bag or a jar.

First, rinse your seeds well, then place them in a bowl full of water and let them soak over night. If you’re using a paper towel, spread the towel on a plate, soak it then spread the seeds evenly on top. Use a spray bottle to keep the seeds moist. If you go the hemp bag route, just dumped the previously soaked seeds into the bag, spray it with your bottle until it drips and hang it on a hook above the sink for it to drain. Rinse it under the faucet 1-2 times a day.

The jar method will find you dumping that same pile of previously soaked seeds into a jar, covering the top with a strip of cheesecloth (secure it with a rubber band). To keep the seeds moist, you’re going to want to rinse and drain the seeds 1-2 times a day as you do with the hemp bag. I like to let mine grow to be about an inch long but you can eat them as soon as the tails appear. Once they are at the length you want them, rinse out any seed husks that remain and store them in the refrigerator.

Sprouts not only taste good, but they are incredible good for you. Those little sprouts contain the B-complex vitamins, vitamins A and C and other goodness like iron, calcium, protein, antioxidants, and beneficial enzymes…the list could go on – and it does. For more information on sprouts, be sure to check out Steve Meyerowitz’s book, Sprouts: The Miracle Food.

There are an amazing number of gadgets out there to help you grow herbs on your kitchen counter. Check out the AeroGarden or Herb kits – loaded with a lot of fun stuff for your countertop garden.

So yes, you can go with a kit but my friends David and Ellie (who happen to be blessed with a vastly larger countertop than yours truly) have their incredible little herb garden growing in tiny pots all around the sink and stove (they even grow salad and green chile!). They key? Sunlight and water. Imagine. Again, follow the basics of indoor container gardening: quality, well-drained soil, adequate sunlight and watering and be sure to pick the appropriate plant for the size pot (those little 4 ½ inch terra cotta pots work nicely for most herbs). I would suggest using annual herbs such as basil, chives, mint and parsley in place of the more woody perennials. But I also encourage you to experiment! Both sage and rosemary do well indoors. Oh and don’t forget, garlic…I’ve had very good results growing garlic in small pots.

Harvest your herbs before they flower. That is when their flavor is the best. Use them often. Pinch those leaves off and eat them so that the plant branches out and becomes more productive. If you can’t keep up and the plant is putting out flowers faster than you can deal, shear the whole thing back by about a third and start again.

You’d be surprised at just how dry your indoor air can be. You’re going to have to be very careful to keep your herbs moist. Another friend of mine with ample counter space has his herbs sitting in pots and the pots sitting in a shallow basin filled with water. The herbs are able to suck up water from the base of the pot and likewise benefit from the evaporating water. If you do this, don’t let your basin dry out. Other issues can arise from it being too hot or too cold in the house or that your herbs are not getting enough sunlight.

I’ve also had a problem with pests taking over my basil. Because there is no winter chill to kill off bugs, you may find your herb garden swarmed with pests. As you would for other indoor plants, create a solution of tepid water and soap and either dip the top of the plant into the solution or use a spray bottle to soak the plant. Be sure to get the solution on the underside of the leaves where the eggs live.

You’ll have to experiment at first but after you get your counter-top garden set, maintenance will not be an issue. Visit Indoor Herb Garden and Make a One-Pot Indoor Herb Garden for more helpful hints.

Time To Write…

Keep it Simple

Write Like Nobody’s Watching

Actually, nobody IS watching.

So for your first draft, feel free to be as clumsy, daring, or crazy as you like.

Put it aside for a while.

Then look at it.

    What were you thinking!?

    That’s TOO crazy!

    Or it just plain sucks.

The good news is, STILL nobody’s watching.

You get to rewrite it as often as you want.

Or maybe more times than you want, but you keep going because you know it’s not quite as good as you can make it yet.

Then, finally, when it’s ready, you send it out.

NOW somebody’s watching.

They may still say it’s too crazy or wonder what you were thinking or that it sucks.

If they have constructive criticism or you suddenly see another way to improve it, great, back to the desk with it.

If not, keep sending it out until it finds a champion.

Meanwhile, write another thing like nobody’s watching.
